Rimfire the wonder horse
Rimfire keeps amazing us, day after day. At nineteen years young (he’ll be twenty this spring!), he has happily taken on a new job and he loves it!
In 2023, Rimfire and author Ellen F. Feld traveled halfway across the country from Massachusetts, all the way to Oklahoma City, OK, to compete in the Morgan Grand National and World Championship Horse Show. In their first class, Masters Classic Pleasure, they placed top ten (they placed ninth) in a huge class. At the time, Rimmie was eighteen and probably one of the oldest horses in the class, if not the oldest. Next up was the Saddle Seat Road Hack Finals, their favorite class, where they captured the blue and became Grand National Champions!
This year, Rimfire returned to Oklahoma, paired with his owner, and author Ellen Feld’s son, Nick Feld. They were there with one goal, to capture the Road Hack championship for a second year. They had an awesome ride and were thrilled when their names were called out as the winners. Go, Rimfire!
Now, just a few months later, Rimfire has found a new calling. He doesn’t act his age and is definitely not ready to retire. He just loves to show and prances onto the trailer every time. So now he’s taking the walk/trot division by storm. While he can be “spicy” for an adult rider, Rimmie calms right down every time a junior rider takes the reins. At last week’s UPHA Winter Tournament, he safely took two different riders to blues in their pleasure classes. One of those riders, a young girl, won her very first blue ribbon aboard Rimmie. He’s a star and is loving all the new fans and attention he is getting.
